ESP RAW 169
The Re-Structured Jab
The Jab. It is THE most important strike in all combat sports [hell, in combatives as well, if you've got a good jab, you've also got a good eye-strike and a good palm-heel, etc.]
Unfortunately this foundation weapon is given a bit of short-shrift as it is seemingly so easy to throw. Once you have even a wee bit of mechanics under your belt you'll start seeing with your own eyes how seldom it is thrown with bio-efficient authority. More importantly you'll see that opponent's head-snapping back a little faster and a little harder with the educated fist we strive to bring you with this volume.
I've taught the jab on video before [too may times to mention] but...here you will get nitty-gritty that we've never discussed. For that reason there will be no freebie video to accompany this. You've got to pay your admission fee to have a seat at the re-structured jab table.
In brief here is what is covered on RAW 169.
• The Jab Stance
• The Concept of Spinal Extension
• The ¼ Turn [I'll tell you right now if that rear foot goes light or pushes you're on the wrong track.]
• The Extension
• The Fist
• And...a beautiful piece of resurrected technology from a very old-school source called The Bump. Extra stink on that jab inside 3 minutes.
Next we'll cover 9 Movement Drills to make sure we can fire that jab with a changing center of mass.
Then we'll hit 4 more Jab Drills that hone variable response jabbing including two Split-Jabbing Drills that are oh, so useful for facing educated fighters.
We will then cover the 2 Primary Jab to the Chin Defenses. The first is the Go-To for, well, everyone but with an old-school twist, the second is a bit harder to master-The Leverage Block-but it served many an old school boxer well. And grappler's and street-fighters will see the utility of gaining this skill as it steals inside line like nobody's business.
We'll conclude with 3 Sparring Drills that puts together the lessons under fire because if you can't hit under fire you're wasting your time.
28 Drills & Concepts for THE most important tool in your arsenal.
As per usual, this volume comes with a printed syllabus for gym use.
